Getting to know Tree Tops Jungle Lodge
Getting to know
Tree Tops Jungle Lodge
Tree Tops Jungle Lodge is a semi-permanent eco-camp in a Sri Lankan rural and forest region. Our private camp property is located in the vicinity of the northern frontier of Yala National Park. Safari is an option during the stay. You are also free to just enjoy being, living and walking in the jungle, with our team.
In the camp you’ll have a front row seat to forest and birdlife. Once in while a wild elephant may appear in the bush next to us. The camp land is merged with the protected Rahatangala conservation forest, an integrated part of the wider Yala National Park ecosystem.

How to eat - Mostly vegetarian
How to eat
Mostly vegetarian
Our cooking is mainly plant based. We easily adapt to vegetarian, vegan or other dietary requirements. We use available locally sourced ingredients. Fresh sea-food is often an option but not always and it cannot be guaranteed. Similar when it comes to meat.
The menu is set. This is practical for such a small operation catering for very few guests. We are open to suggestions on how you would like your meals prepared. There are natural limitations but we are flexible.
A vegetarian, a vegan and a meat-eater are all welcomed with the same open arms. And meat-eaters would usually be easily adaptable. Because they also eat vegetables.
Sustainable and locally rooted tourism
Sustainable and
locally rooted tourism
Run by a native jungle team we operate an authentic and exclusive ecolodge adventure. A small size camp concept that has created a tourism experience truly reflecting the essence of the local area.
An eco-camp composed of mud, canvas and re-wilded property and a blend of ecolodge and safari camp, with the accommodation capacity of a villa.
Business and ethos goes hand in hand, preserving an original atmosphere and leaving the wild location to be experienced in a private, silent and individual way. A bio-diverse property to be enjoyed by our human guests and a natural habitat for wild animals, birds and insects.
What It's All About
Live and sleep with birds
We are living in the world of birds and calls of the birds make defining background sounds at Tree Tops Jungle Lodge.
In the images two bird species that entertain us with their song. Jungle Owlet heard at night. The delightful song of White-rumped shama is heard in the daytime.
Camp area and landscape
Our camp property is situated in the south-eastern region of Sri Lanka. In the wider buffer wilderness ecosystem of Yala National Park.
From Tree Tops Jungle Lodge, towards Yala, the landscape is uninhabited habitat. A region with forest, bush-jungles and farming areas with seasonal cultivation.

Living with the wild
Seasonally wild elephants can be around us. In dry times elephants might use our water hole. They are wild animals. Respect them like that.
Take care and be quiet. Respect that elephants get alert and tense if they notice moving humans. Please freeze. Stay motionless.
